Singapore Book Awards 2025
The Singapore Book Awards, SBPA’s signature literary celebration, honours the finest in publishing excellence across Singapore’s four official languages. Established in 2012, the awards recognize works across categories such as fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, professional titles, and the distinguished “Book of the Year” title, selected from category winners. To qualify, titles must be locally published with a Singaporean ISBN or author and meet deposit and distribution criteria. Finalists have already been announced, with the winners revealed at the awards ceremony on 24 July 2025.
A highlight of the 2025 ceremony included a celebration of culinary storytelling and heritage through exceptional food writing, showing how the awards honour both literary artistry and cultural narratives.
Singapore Children’s Book Festival 2025
Returning for its second year, the Singapore Children’s Book Festival will take place from 20 to 22 June 2025 at NAFA Campus 2. Presented by SBPA in collaboration with NAFA (UAS), SCBF is a vibrant celebration of children’s literature featuring workshops, talks, two new book launches, and creative activities that promote local child readership.
This year’s festival pays tribute to Singapore’s pioneer illustrators—Mr. Idris Mohamed Ali and the late Madam Kwan Shan Mei—while spotlighting aspiring storytellers and illustrators. The festival includes family-friendly activities and, uniquely, an illustrator exhibition running from 21 June to 6 July, 12–7 pm daily.
Singapore Pavilion at the Frankfurt Book Fair
SBPA proudly presented the Singapore Pavilion at the Frankfurt Book Fair (16–20 October 2024) under the thematics of “Small Island, Big Reads.” The pavilion featured a dynamic mix of 10 homegrown publishers showcasing over 300 local titles, spanning genres and languages.
The pavilion included an immersive online catalogue and rights-focused programming. Leading up to the fair, SBPA arranged delegate workshops covering topics such as networking, rights negotiation, book fair strategies, and IP management—designed to boost participants’ readiness and confidence.
At the fair’s opening, Ambassador Lee Chong Hock, Singapore’s Ambassador to Germany, graced the national reception as Guest of Honour. Today’s editions continue to foster international visibility and partnerships for Singaporean publishers.
